Veneers are thin (usually about 0.5mm thick) pieces of porcelain, which are bonded to the front surface of the teeth. Veneers can be used to improve the appearance of teeth by changing the shape of the teeth, the colour of the teeth and can mask stains caused by some medications. The example below shows a patient who did not like the spacing between her teeth. Veneers were placed on the 4 front teeth which have improved the colour and shape of the teeth. The patient could have been referred for orthodontic treatment to close the spaces but declined due to the time involved. This procedure below took 2 appointments 2 weeks apart.
