Childrens Dentistry

The first dental visit for children is usually short. This visit gives your child an opportunity to meet the dentist and staff in a friendly relaxed environment. Sometimes we may ask the parent to sit in the dental chair with the child  and then stay whilst their child has their dental examination. Full dental examinations are not normally carried out until the child is old enough to understand what is happening at age 4/5/6 yrs.  Familiarisation visits can start as soon as the parents are happy to bring their child to the practice.

Fillings

Natural looking tooth-coloured fillings, or ‘white’ fillings, are also known as ‘composite’ fillings and are made from very strong  material that can be shaped to the exact requirements of the tooth. This material is set using a special light source that cures the filling material. Natural white fillings are now the most common cosmetic dental procedure.

Implants

Mouthguards

A mouthguard is a removable rubber or polyvinyl shield worn over your teeth, most commonly the upper teeth, to protect the teeth and jaws from traumatic injury during sporting activities. For the mouthguard to offer best protection it needs to be custom made to ensure a good fit. If the mouthguard does not fit properly it will not prevent tooth damage.
